Gas-turbine power plants

Gas-turbine power plants

PiterEnergoMash designs, supplies, mounts and commissions the gas-turbine power plants with a capacity range staring from 30000 kVA to 61000 kVA in container and block-modular implementation. We provide gas-turbine power plants packaged in standard 20- and 40-foot containers produced by our company. The choice of container is made is based on power of the station undergoing packaging and the size of the main gas-reciprocating unit. All items of equipment for the stations are provided with quick disconnect joints, which makes it easy and timesaving to mount and disassemble the components of the system in case of repairing or replacement. All gas-turbine power plants packaged by PiterEnergoMash are equipped with security and fire alarm systems and access monitoring and control systems integrated into containers. Gas-turbine power plants can operate as independent electric power source, or as supplementary to other centralized sources. Gas-turbine power plants can be used as a primary or backup electric power source, independently, in parallel with other electric power sources, or in parallel with the electric power system. The company provides an optional mounting of heat- recovery systems. In such systems the exhaust gases are utilized in hot-water or steam recovery boilers. Generating of AC electric power is provided by a synchronous three-phase turbine-generator, driven by a gas-turbine plant. The prime fuel is natural gas but the plants, undergone appropriate upgrading, allow to use some alternative types of fuel gas.

Gas-turbine power plants, are quite compact (for a given type of equipment) stationary plants constructed on the bases of block-modular principle. The basic unit of the gas-turbine power plants is the electrical power unit which consists of a gas- turbine unit and a generator. Also, the electrical power unit is equipped with various systems of control and automatic adjustment of the entire unit, filters, oil supply units and other components. Gas-turbine power plants, in dependence to design, get further equipped with a compressor, a heat-exchange unit, allowing to utilize secondary energy and convert it into heat, a fuel gas treatment plant, and some otherequpment. Also, gas-turbine power plant may be supplemented by a diesel engine, which is often used when the plant gets put into operation.

gtes01The gas- turbine power plants are operating on the following principle: air sequentially passes through the filter system, a suction chamber and enters the engine compressor where it gets compressed and, pressurized, gets fed into a combustion chamber, where it gets mixed with the added fuel, whereafter the mixture gets burned. Next, the hot gas is supplied to the turbine blades, causing the turbine to rotate. Which results in the thermal power of the hot gases being converted into mechanical (rotation of the turbine), and then transmitted through the drive to the generator, which actually generates electric power. Waste gases leave the exhaust pipe, and enter the atmosphere. And in case of the heat recovery system being mounted, they enter the heat exchange unit or heat recovery boiler and used for space heating.

Gas-turbine power plants can operate in fully automatically. In this case, they are equipped with the automation unit, which provides self-starting, synchronizes operations of the generator, the turbine and other systems, as well as ensures the general control of the entire plant operating.

An option of complete diagnostics of the equipment and major units of the plant, simple operating and, accordingly, the minimum required number of service personnel make gas-turbine power plants the best solution in various situations.

The main advantages of gas- turbine power plants are the following:
  • Reliability. The average duration of the basic units without major repairs amounts up to 100-130 thousand hours.
  • The efficiency gas-turbine unit, as such, amounts approximately 51%, but if the heat recovery system, is mounted the overall efficiency reaches 93%
  • Compactness. Relatively small dimensions, significantly reducing the time of construction work and minimizing the area required for electric power plant.
  • Environmental friendliness
  • An option of operating in automatic mode.
  • An option of using alternative fuels.
